ProVIA stands for "Understanding Problem Behavior and Preventing Intellectual Developmental Disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorders".Who is the app intended for?ProVIA is designed for caregivers of children with autism or a cognitive development disorder. Caregivers are, for example, parents, family members, carers in a residential facility or employees in kindergarten or school. What should the app help with? The app helps caregivers find the reasons for problem behavior in children with autism or cognitive developmental disorder. By problem behavior we mean, for example: The child destroys things, refuses to give instructions or hurts himself or others. The app gives tips on how to deal with difficult situations. Using the app should reduce the problem behavior and the burden on the caregivers. What are the limits of the app?Sometimes the child puts himself or another person at risk through problem behavior. For example: the child does not listen to prompts and keeps walking without looking into the street. Or the child seriously injures other people. The app does not replace psychotherapy, psychiatric or medical care, occupational therapy, speech therapy or other treatments. These treatments may also be necessary depending on the severity of the problem.additional InformationEveryone should be able to use the ProVIA app. That is why we have based the texts on the rules of easy language. This project is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labor and Social Affairs. The content was created by employees of the Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University Hospital of Würzburg.
